A significant spill of shea butter oil occurred on the Accra–Kumasi Highway due to a tanker incident near the Misa Fuel Station in Ntoaso, Eastern Region. The DAF XF tanker, which was transporting the oil from Tema to Techiman, experienced a technical fault when its discharge valve broke during transit, resulting in approximately 50 cartons of oil spilling onto the road. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded promptly to the scene after receiving reports of the incident. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the spill. Firefighters utilized foam concentrate to contain the oil and mitigate environmental and road safety risks. Their quick action helped to secure the area and restore normal traffic flow on this crucial transport route linking Accra with other regions. Authorities confirmed that the situation was managed effectively without injuries, and motorists were advised to exercise caution while navigating the affected stretch during the emergency response operations.
