What We're Looking For
We publish a range of content types and welcome pitches across all our categories:
- News Reports (800–1,500 words): Timely reporting on events, developments, and issues affecting Ghanaians. Original reporting with verified sources is strongly preferred.
- Analysis and Explainers (1,000–2,000 words): In-depth pieces that help readers understand complex issues — from economic policy to cultural trends — with context and expert insight.
- Opinion and Commentary (600–1,200 words): Well-argued perspectives on current events, policy debates, and social issues. Clearly labeled as opinion and based on verifiable facts.
- Features and Human Interest (1,200–2,500 words): Narrative stories that bring Ghanaian experiences to life — profiles, community stories, cultural features, and investigative pieces.
- News Tips: If you have information about a story that deserves coverage but are not a writer yourself, we welcome confidential tips. Contact us with details and any supporting evidence.
Submission Guidelines
To ensure your submission is considered, please follow these guidelines:
- Submissions must be original work not previously published elsewhere.
- Include a brief pitch (2–3 sentences) explaining the story, its relevance, and your angle.
- Cite all sources and provide links to supporting evidence where possible.
- Use clear, accessible language. Avoid jargon unless writing for a specialist audience.
- Include a short author bio (50–100 words) and your contact information.
- If including images, ensure you have the rights to use them and provide proper attribution.
- Submissions may be edited for clarity, length, and style before publication.
Our Editorial Standards
All contributions are reviewed against our Editorial Policy. Key requirements include:
- Accuracy: Facts must be verified from credible sources. We do not publish unverified claims or rumors.
- Fairness: Present multiple perspectives. Seek comment from subjects of critical coverage.
- Originality: Your own analysis and reporting. We do not accept content that is primarily copied or AI-generated without significant original contribution.
- Ethics: No plagiarism, fabrication, or conflicts of interest that are not disclosed.
Compensation
We are building a sustainable platform and currently offer competitive compensation for accepted feature-length articles and commissioned pieces. Rates vary by content type and length. Please include your rate expectations when pitching. For news tips, we do not offer compensation but ensure proper attribution unless anonymity is requested.
