Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo (Esq.), has formally announced her intention to contest again as the New Patriotic Party's Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency.
In a statement dated Thursday, October 22, 2026, titled "Statement by Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo - Dome-Kwabenya NPP Parliamentary Contest", the former MP said the decision comes after considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad-based engagement with party leadership and executives.
"Fellow Patriots, cherished constituents of Dome-Kwabenya and the good people of Ghana. Over the years, my journey in public service has been shaped by a deep sense of commitment to the people," she stated.
According to her, her relationship with the people of Dome-Kwabenya transcends politics and is rooted in years of shared experiences, dedicated service and sacrifice.
Adwoa Safo said she had earlier indicated her intention to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency, but upon deeper reflection, she has come to appreciate that there is no greater honour than serving the over two hundred thousand constituents of Dome-Kwabenya in Parliament.
She said her decision to return is informed by her enduring commitment to the constituency and her conviction that there remains much to contribute to its development.
Recounting her electoral record, she noted that in 2012 when she was first elected as parliamentary candidate, the votes inherited was in the region of 35,000. Through collective efforts, the party grew the votes to 63,373 in 2012, 65,488 in 2016 and 75,041 in the 2020 election.
"These achievements are not mine alone. They reflect the dedication, sacrifice and commitment of every party member, supporter and constituent who believed in our shared vision for Dome-Kwabenya," she said.
She added that Dome-Kwabenya remains one of the fastest-growing constituencies in Ghana with significant opportunities and developmental challenges, but over her twelve years as MP, meaningful progress was made with stakeholders.
While acknowledging that much remains to be done, she said she remains committed to building on the progress made.
"I therefore invite party members, stakeholders and constituents alike to engage with me in a spirit of openness, candor and mutual respect as we reflect on the future of Dome-Kwabenya," she said.
