Akuapem Nifahene Recounts 10 Years of Development at Diaspora Engagement in London

The Akuapem Nifahene and Chief of Adukrom, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, has highlighted a decade of transformation in Adukrom and the Okere Traditional Area since his enstoolment.

Addressing Okere and Akuapem Nifa citizens resident in the United Kingdom in London on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the chief said his ten-year reign has been anchored on infrastructure, education, culture and economic empowerment.

Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V pointed to a number of interventions undertaken under his leadership. These include the complete renovation of the Adukrom Market, the construction of a modern toilet facility at the market to improve sanitation, and the refurbishment of Nifa Basic School.

At the second-cycle level, he said he has supported infrastructural improvement at Nifa Senior High School and established the Osuodumgya Educational Fund, which provides assistance to brilliant but needy students across the Okere District.

He also commended the former Member of Parliament for Okere, Hon. Dan Botwe, for partnering with traditional leadership to bring major state projects to the area. These include the Okere District Court, the District Hospital, an AstroTurf pitch, the Adukrom to Somanya road, the Adukrom-Abiriw road and several town roads within the Okere District and the Adukrom Traditional Area.

According to the Nifahene, preserving history has been equally important. He revealed that he has supported the documentation of the history and traditions of the principal towns in Okere to preserve heritage for future generations.

On the economy, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V called for stronger partnership between the traditional authority and citizens in the diaspora to drive investment into areas where Okere has competitive advantage, particularly tourism and agribusiness, to create jobs for the youth.

He also declared his full support for the Akuapem Silicon Ridge initiative, noting that he will commit his time and resources to help position Akuapem as Ghana's technology and innovation hub.

The chief lauded the Adukrom Tufuhene, Nana Ayisi Koranteng, for his significant role in projecting Okere and mobilising development, and praised other individuals who have contributed to uplifting the image of Adukrom and Okere.

The London engagement forms part of activities leading to a double historic celebration - the 10th anniversary of Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V as Adukromhene, Okerehene and Akuapem Nifahene, and the 200th anniversary of the Akuapem Odwira Festival commemorating the Katamanso War.
