Avoid Kaneshie If You Have No Business There - GARID Warns Over Pamprom Road Closure

The Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) Project has advised motorists to avoid Kaneshie if they have no urgent business in the area, following a temporary road closure at Pamprom Junction.

The westbound carriageway of the Dr. Busia Highway at Pamprom Junction has been closed to vehicular traffic from Monday, September 7, 2026, to allow for ongoing works under the GARID Project.

Speaking to the media on Monday, GARID Project Coordinator, Dr. Ohene Sarfo, said the closure is expected to worsen traffic congestion in Kaneshie, which is already a major hotspot.

He urged drivers who do not have Kaneshie as their final destination to use alternative routes to ease pressure on the affected stretch.

"What we advise is that if you don't have any business in Kaneshie as a destination, as much as possible avoid it, because the traffic will build up, and it will really be inconvenient," he said.

Dr. Sarfo suggested that motorists could use the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue through Abossey Okai or Kaneshie North to join the N1 Motorway as an alternative.

He also recommended the Atta Mills Highway through Korle Bu and Dansoman, exiting around Mallam and Sakaman.

"You could even use the Atta Mills Highway and onwards through Korle Bu, Dansoman, and exit at Mallam, Sakaman, thereabouts, so that the volumes would reduce coming to this point, because this is a hotspot now," he stated.

He appealed to motorists who must use the affected route to cooperate with traffic management officers to minimise delays and allow the project to be completed on time.
