The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano, Hon. Ida Adjoa Asiedu, has launched the MPs Community Soccer League 2026 - Zone 1 (Coaltar Zone) at the Dokrochiwa Community Park.
The league, under the theme "Restoring Hope Through Sports, Entertainment and Talent Hunt," is aimed at bringing communities together, engaging the youth positively and creating a platform to identify and nurture football talents in the constituency.
Speaking at the launch, Hon. Asiedu said the initiative seeks to promote discipline and teamwork among the youth while unearthing promising players who can progress to higher levels of the game.
She disclosed that the competition will be extended across the constituency, with the Asuoboi and Anum Apapam Zones expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
"Our vision is to take the competition across the constituency. We are looking forward to discovering talented young players who can progress to higher levels of the game and, hopefully, represent Ayensuano and Ghana at the national level," she stated.
As part of her support for grassroots sports development, the MP presented jerseys and footballs to the participating teams.
She expressed gratitude to the teams, organisers, supporters, sponsors, party executives and residents who contributed to the success of the launch.
She noted that the next football star could emerge from Ayensuano.
