Barcelona has finalized a transfer agreement worth over £69 million with Newcastle United for England international Anthony Gordon. The deal, exceeding €80 million, follows successful negotiations between the two clubs, with Barcelona meeting Newcastle's valuation for the talented forward. Gordon is set to complete the transfer formalities before joining the England squad for their training camp in the United States ahead of the FIFA World Cup. Bayern Munich also expressed interest in signing the 25-year-old but could not reach an agreement due to valuation differences. Newcastle's chief executive, David Hopkinson, emphasized the club's strong negotiating position throughout the discussions. The transfer fee will provide Newcastle with financial flexibility as they seek to improve after a disappointing 12th-place finish in the Premier League last season. Additionally, a 15 percent sell-on clause will benefit Everton, who sold Gordon to Newcastle in a deal worth up to £45 million in 2023. Gordon had been seen as a likely departure this summer and was notably benched for Newcastle's last four matches, receiving a farewell chant from supporters during the final game against Fulham.
