Body of Ghanaian Killed in South Africa Xenophobic Attack Arrives Home

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the arrival of the mortal remains of Bashiru Isak, the Ghanaian national tragically killed during recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The body was received by state officials and grieving family members upon arrival and has since been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital.

The Government of Ghana says it is “fiercely demanding” expedited investigations and uncompromised justice from South African authorities over the fatal shooting in Cape Town.

In a statement, the government warned that there must be “no room for silence or cover-ups” in the probe into Mr. Isak’s death.

Officials say Ghana will continue to engage South African authorities at the highest diplomatic levels to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book and that measures are put in place to protect Ghanaians living in South Africa.
