The Member of Parliament for Walewale Constituency, *Hon. Abdul Kabiru Tiah Mahama*, has joined thousands of Ghanaians in the "Democracy Under Attack" protest, describing the demonstration as a clear warning to the government against what he calls the weaponization of state power.
Speaking to the media during the protest, Hon. Mahama said he was on the streets with fellow citizens to voice concern over threats to Ghana’s democratic values.
"I joined several Ghanaians to demonstrate against the attack on democracy and for that matter the attack on free speech, rule of law, freedom of media and press, constitutionalism and fundamental human rights," he stated.
The Walewale MP said the turnout for the protest carried a strong political message.
"The numbers sent the message to the President and the message was unmistakably clear - enough of weaponizing the powers," Hon. Mahama added.
The "Democracy Under Attack" protest brought together opposition figures, civil society groups, and ordinary citizens who marched to register their displeasure over recent developments they believe undermine democratic institutions.
Protesters called for the protection of press freedom, adherence to the rule of law, and respect for constitutionalism and fundamental human rights.
