Former NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Tema West, Hon. Dennis Amfo Sefah, has called for a renewed spirit of love, trust and unity within the party as part of efforts to rebuild its grassroots base.
This comes after he visited Mr. Anthony Osei Sarpong and his family at Klagon, a long-standing NPP patriot whose commitment to the party dates back to 1996 when he was instrumental in starting NPP meetings in the area.
According to Hon. Sefah, Mr. Sarpong suffered a tragic accident on the motorway which has affected his mobility. However, what has been more painful for him and his family is the feeling of neglect, as leadership of the party in the electoral area failed to visit or show concern during his difficult moment.
Speaking after the visit, Hon. Sefah said he went not only to commiserate with him, but to acknowledge the wrong and apologize on behalf of the party.
"We cannot rebuild the NPP while forgetting the very people who built it from the grassroots," he stated.
He appealed to Mr. Sarpong and his family to forgive the party and come back home, stressing that the NPP is bigger than individual mistakes.
"The NPP is bigger than individual mistakes, and our commitment must be to correct those mistakes and restore the love, trust and family spirit that once united us," he added.
As part of the visit, Hon. Sefah also offered a token contribution towards Mr. Sarpong's recovery, noting that every little act of care matters.
He emphasized that the NPP he believes in is one that remembers its people, honours its faithful, accepts its mistakes and brings everyone back home.
"Let us bring back the love. Let us rebuild the trust. Let us reconnect with our grassroots. Let us bring back the NPP spirit in Tema West. NPP is home. NPP is where we belong," he said.
