*Hon. Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency*, has presented *5,000 single-unit tables and chairs* to the Ga East Municipal Education Directorate to help reduce the furniture deficit in public schools.
The donation, handed over earlier today, adds to previous furniture support from the GETFund and government. Hon. Akurugu said the intervention is to create a more conducive learning environment for pupils.
*“This is coming from the MP's office to support you. I know we still have to do more and I won’t go to sleep. I will continue to work harder and then get more to you,”* she said during the handover.
Hon. Akurugu noted that the donation is part of her broader commitment to strengthening education across the constituency.

Receiving the items, *Ga East Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Eric Sey*, expressed deep appreciation and described the MP’s support as unprecedented.
*“For the past one and a half years that you’ve been MP, things that you’ve done for the municipality, especially the Education Directorate, we don’t know how to describe it... I think I will describe you as the queen of education for Ga East,”* Mr. Sey stated.
He recounted how the MP, during visits to examination centers, noticed students writing on small desks or even squatting, and decided to intervene.
*“The last time I accompanied you round all the various examination centers, I remember you said 'Director, what table are they writing on?' I didn’t know that you were thinking about it to solve the problem,”* he added.
Mr. Sey said the 5,000 desks will be distributed to examination centers to ensure students can sit comfortably and write exams, which he believes will improve performance.
*“This time when they are writing exams our children will not be sitting on small small desks... this time they will sit comfortably and write the exams and I believe this will go to improve their performance,”* he said.
The Director assured the MP that the furniture will be well maintained and pledged to distribute them to schools in need. He also referenced another recent intervention where the MP refurbished a KG block with learning materials just last week.
