The Member of Parliament for Kumawu and Chairperson of Parliament's Human Rights Committee, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has supported 500 boarding students from the constituency who gained admission to Senior High School this year.
Out of over 1,000 fresh SHS entrants from Kumawu, the 500 beneficiaries each received prospectus items including chop boxes, trunks, mattresses, plastic buckets, cutlasses, cutlery sets, bowls, exercise books, school bags, and an additional GHS 500 for upkeep.
Hon. Anim, who has been MP since 2023, said this marks the third consecutive year he has provided comprehensive support for BECE candidates in the constituency.
He disclosed that this year's intervention included four buses to convey candidates to all five examination centres, mathematical sets for all candidates, and prospectus support for those who have gained admission to SHS.
"As Member of Parliament for Kumawu, nothing gives me more joy than seeing our young ones progress in education," he stated.
"Education remains my top priority. I will continue to do my best to reduce the burden on parents and give our children a fair chance to succeed," he added.
The support forms part of his "Investing in the Future of Kumawu - Education First" initiative.
