GAF clears 175.6km corridor for Accra-Kumasi Expressway ahead of schedule

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully cleared 175.6 kilometres of the right-of-way for the proposed Accra-Kumasi Expressway in 19 weeks.

The exercise, undertaken in collaboration with the Ministries of Defence, Finance, and Roads and Highways, was completed one week ahead of the 20-week target set for the operation.

The achievement forms part of preparatory works for the construction of the expressway and underscores the engineering capability of the GAF and its growing role in supporting major national infrastructure delivery.

Engineers of the GAF worked with officials from the collaborating ministries to clear the 175.6km corridor, paving the way for the next phases of the project.

Describing the feat, the GAF said its Engineers remain committed to delivering on their mandate ahead of schedule and upholding engineering excellence.

The clearance marks a major step forward in the planned Accra-Kumasi Expressway project, which is expected to significantly improve connectivity and travel between the two major cities.
