The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have set up a five-member Search Committee to lead the recruitment of a new head coach for the Black Stars.
The decision followed a meeting between the leadership of the GFA and the Ministry in Accra on Friday, October 2, 2026.
The Committee will be chaired by former Vice-President of the GFA, Mr. Fred Pappoe, who brings extensive experience in football administration and governance.
He will be assisted by four other members:
- Anthony Baffoe – General Secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and former Ghana international
- Agbesi Dzakpasu (Esq.) – Legal practitioner and football administrator
- Stephen Appiah – Former Black Stars captain
- Faisal Chibsah – High-performance specialist
Per its terms of reference, the Committee is tasked with identifying, evaluating and recommending a suitable candidate for the vacant coaching position.
It is expected to submit its report to the Ghana Football Association.
The Black Stars coaching job became vacant on Thursday, October 1, 2026, after Portuguese trainer Carlos Queiroz resigned following the September international window.
The GFA and the Ministry have assured Ghanaians of a transparent and merit-based process to appoint a competent coach to lead the Black Stars in its upcoming assignments.
