Ghana has officially become a member of the “Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets,” with the country’s accession announced today at the London Stock Exchange.
Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, made the declaration on behalf of the Government of Ghana.
“I was honored to, on behalf of the Government of Ghana, officially declare the country a member of nations determined to grow carbon markets earlier today, the 24th day of June, 2026 at the London Stock Exchange,” Hon. Sulemana said.
The Coalition brings together nations committed to scaling up carbon markets as a tool for climate finance, emissions reduction and green growth.
Hon. Sulemana said the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the entire government are committed to the new agreement.
“The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the entire government remains committed to ensuring the successful implementation of this new agreement and movement,” he stated.
Ghana’s membership signals its intent to leverage carbon trading to support its climate commitments under the Paris Agreement while attracting investment into sustainable forestry, land use and energy transition projects.
The move aligns with ongoing national efforts to position Ghana as a hub for credible, high-integrity carbon credits in Africa.
