Ghana's Human Rights Committee Strengthens Collaboration With Global Fund At UN Meeting In Geneva

The Chairperson of Parliament's Human Rights Committee and MP for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has held talks with senior executives of the Global Fund on the sidelines of the 63rd Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Hon. Anim, who was joined by the Deputy Ranking Member of the Committee, Hon. Anthony Sumah, said the engagement focused on deepening collaboration between the Committee and the Global Fund.

According to him, discussions centered on ensuring that Global Fund-supported programmes in Ghana are effectively managed and continue to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities.

The meeting also touched on broader human rights issues affecting access to healthcare, equality and non-discrimination, protection of vulnerable and marginalised groups, and the need to keep human rights central to health financing and programme implementation.

Hon. Anim said Parliament remains committed to its oversight mandate and will continue to work with development partners such as the Global Fund to promote accountability, transparency, effective grant management and equitable access to health services for all Ghanaians.
