Goaso Manhemaa bans sale and consumption of alcohol in Kwantene

The Manhemaa of the Goaso Traditional Council, Nana Afia Serwaa, has banned the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in Kwantene.
Speaking on the directive, Nana Awuah Baffour Odiasempa, who is the Chief of Kwantene and the Kwansrahene of the Goaso Traditional Council, explained that excessive alcohol consumption has become a major concern in the community, with many men and women frequently getting intoxicated.
According to him, the Queen Mother's decision is aimed at addressing the growing issue of drunkenness and promoting a more disciplined and healthy lifestyle among residents.
He noted that many people engage in acts of indiscipline and violence when under the influence of alcohol, creating insecurity and disrupting peace within the community.
He also advised community members to desist from drug abuse and other harmful activities that could hinder the development of the town.
Additionally, Nana Awuah Baffour Odiasempa announced that the rearing of pigs on lands within Kwantene has also been prohibited under the new directives.
