President John Dramani Mahama says the government has hired 6,000 Arabic teachers under the Youth Employment Agency to boost Islamic education nationwide.
Addressing the National Eid al-Adha celebration at Black Star Square, the President explained that the move serves a dual purpose: strengthening Arabic and Islamic studies in schools while creating jobs for young people.
He confirmed that all recruited teachers have been paid, adding that government owes no arrears to any of them.
“I’m also pleased to announce that through the Youth Employment Agency the government has so far recruited 6,000 Arabic teachers to support Islamic education and create employment for young people,” Mahama stated.
He said plans are in place to scale up the programme in the coming years to bring more Arabic teachers on board.
President Mahama also praised YEA CEO Malik Basintali and his team for the smooth rollout of the initiative.
