The Member of Parliament for Weija Gbawe Constituency and Second Deputy Minority Whip, *Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib*, has commissioned and handed over a new Wellness and Adolescent Clinic to the Oblogo Health Centre to serve residents of Oblogo and the entire Weija Gbawe Municipality.
The facility was commissioned on Friday, 7th August 2026.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Shaib said healthcare has always been a priority in his tenure as MP.
"Those who have followed my journey will know that health care is a course I care about. And will always remain a priority for me. That is a fact," he stated.
He recounted some of his health interventions in the constituency, including free health screenings and NHIS registrations.
"There is no part of Weija Gbawe that the foundation has not touched. Anybody who is 60 years and above that attended the health screening has had a free machine. There is nobody who has not been registered on the National Health Insurance who was available for the health screening. There was nobody who didn't get the necessary care that came for the health screening," Hon. Shaib said.
He added that his office has also supported residents with free surgeries.
"If you are a man and you have a hernia, I pay for your free surgery. If you are a woman and you have fibroid, I pay for your free surgery."
The MP emphasized the importance of timely access to healthcare for all groups.
"Whether it's an expectant mother attending routine appointments, a parent seeking care for a sick child, a teenager in need of guidance, or a patient preparing for general medical attention, timely access to appropriate health care can make all the difference."
Hon. Shaib noted that the new clinic will strengthen services already provided by the Oblogo Health Centre, including maternal and child health, outpatient care, preventive screenings, and adolescent-friendly support such as counselling and psychosocial care for young people dealing with physical, emotional and social challenges.
He pointed out that some of these essential services were previously being delivered from an old structure behind the new building, which he directed to be pulled down immediately.
"I have been given a firm assurance that whilst I am talking... that today we are bringing this kiosk down. At the enterprise, please, I'm expecting that the kiosk is gone while I'm talking because it has to go down," he said.
