The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Hon. Joseph Kwasi Mensah, has cut the sod for a new three-unit classroom block at Alataline to boost education in the area.
The project is being funded through the MP’s share of the District Assembly Common Fund. It will include a teachers’ office, a KVIP toilet, and a urinal. Construction is expected to be completed within four months.
Speaking at the ceremony on Monday, Hon. Mensah said an assessment revealed the old classroom block was in a deplorable state and posed a danger to pupils. He described the structure as unsafe and said Alataline was selected based on urgent need, since the old building was no longer fit for use.
District Chief Executive Hon. Effah Patrick, popularly known as Hon. Patoo, welcomed the intervention. He said the new facility will provide a healthy and safe learning environment and supports government’s efforts to reduce the rural-urban gap in school infrastructure.
The Odikro of Alataline, Morro Naa, thanked the MP, DCE, and the District Assembly for the project. He said the poor condition of the old building kept teachers and pupils away during rains, and some teachers had even left the school entirely. He expressed hope that the new block will restore confidence and increase enrollment.
The classroom block is expected to be ready before the end of the 2026 academic year.
