Member of Parliament for Akuapem South Constituency, Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu, has urged Ghanaians to set aside political differences and unite behind the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Presenting a statement on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Dziwornu called on citizens to show patriotism by supporting the national team as it prepares to proudly showcase Ghana’s identity on the global stage.
“In moments like this, Ghana becomes one heartbeat. Political differences and all other divisions fade away, and for ninety minutes at a time, we are no longer NDC, NPP, or otherwise; we are simply Ghanaians, united behind eleven warriors on the pitch,” she stated.
The MP also commended President H.E. John Dramani Mahama for what she described as an “unprecedented approach to national mobilization” ahead of the tournament. She highlighted the World Cup fundraising initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ghana Football Association.
According to Hon. Dziwornu, the initiative has already encouraged both individuals and corporate organizations to contribute toward Ghana’s participation in the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The call comes as preparations intensify for Ghana’s campaign, with the MP stressing that national unity remains key to the Black Stars’ success.
