Brazilian forward Neymar has been sidelined due to a calf injury and is expected to miss upcoming friendly matches, as well as potentially the World Cup opener. The 34-year-old player has been ruled out for 'two to three weeks' following an MRI scan that revealed a grade two calf strain, which involves a partial tear of muscle fibers. This injury prevents him from participating in the friendly against Panama and another match against Egypt in Cleveland. Brazil's World Cup campaign begins on June 13 against Morocco, followed by matches against Haiti and Scotland. Neymar, who has scored 79 goals in 128 international appearances, had recently joined the national team but missed the first training session due to swelling in his right calf. The diagnosis of his injury contrasts with earlier statements from his club doctor, who suggested it was merely swelling. Additionally, Brazil's manager Carlo Ancelotti will also be without key players Gabriel and Marquinhos due to their commitments in the Champions League final. Neymar's absence is significant as he aims to participate in his fourth World Cup, despite previous injury struggles.
