Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has said his aggressive posture in Parliament is driven by a clear political target to grow the NPP Minority's numbers in the next election.
Speaking at the tail end of the vetting of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister-designate, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, on Thursday, August 27, Afenyo-Markin explained why he must be tough in his role.
He told Ayariga that he respects him and will support him, but his job demands hard questioning.
"Will be there to support you but you know my job. I've lost a lot of friends because of this job but I know that God will be by my side. So when my questions are coming, get ready," he said.
According to him, he cannot maintain the current 87 seats held by the Minority.
"I cannot afford to continue with this eighty-seven. Definitely I must also make it one fifty in the minimum. In the minimum one fifty in the next election. So I have to do my job," Afenyo-Markin stated.
He concluded by wishing his colleague well.
