Jerry Ahmed Shaib Joins Weija-Gbawe Assembly to Empower PWDs with Start-up Support

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly has presented livelihood support to 36 persons living with disabilities under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) Disability Fund.

The presentation was held on Monday, 13th July 2026, at the Assembly premises.

Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency and Second Deputy Minority Whip, joined the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Assembly Members, and officials of the Assembly for the ceremony.

According to him, the beneficiaries received various forms of support tailored to their individual needs and proposed livelihoods.

Items presented included deep freezers with ice chests and start-up capital, industrial sewing machines, rubber cutting machines, bags of charcoal, assorted business goods, and other income-generating equipment to help them establish and expand their businesses.

“This initiative forms part of efforts under the Disability Fund to promote economic empowerment and improve the livelihoods of persons living with disabilities by providing them with the necessary resources to become more self-reliant,” Hon. Shaib said.

He commended the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, the Honourable Assembly Members, and all stakeholders involved for their commitment to empowering persons living with disabilities and creating opportunities for them to improve their economic wellbeing.

The MP also encouraged all beneficiaries to make good use of the support received.

“I encourage all beneficiaries to manage the items effectively, and use them as a stepping stone towards achieving financial independence and a better quality of life,” he added.
