A 15-year-old boy, Issah Ali, was shot in the jaw by his kidnappers in the Northern Region before they abandoned him as police approached. The abduction occurred on the night of May 23 at his family home in Kabulya, Nanumba South District. The District Chief Executive confirmed that the kidnappers initially targeted the boy's father but took Issah instead. Two others were also assaulted during the incident. The family reported the kidnapping to the police the following day. Issah was later taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital under police escort for treatment, although his condition remains undisclosed. Authorities have arrested two suspects related to the case, and police are making progress in dismantling the kidnapping syndicate. This incident highlights a growing concern over the abduction of community leaders in the Northern Region, with previous similar cases reported in Kpandai, Sang, and Wapuli. Additionally, another Fulbe chief is reportedly facing threats from kidnappers and has allegedly paid over GH¢20,000 to them. The Northern Regional Police Command plans to hold a press conference to provide further updates on the situation and ongoing investigations.
