The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has urged mining investors operating in Ghana to honour their agreements with the government, stressing that Community Development Agreements, transparent oversight and credible environmental obligations are essential to investor confidence.
He was speaking at the Mining in Motion Conference on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The Minister said the new Mining Act currently before Parliament will require a Community Development Agreement as part of the agreements signed with the country, a move aimed at ensuring mining communities benefit directly from mineral wealth.
He described the requirement as a direct message to investors and partners that Ghana is resetting how it governs its mineral resources and how the benefits are shared.
Addressing technology partners and international development institutions, he assured them that Ghana remains committed to reforming the sector.
“Let me assure you Ghana is resetting the way we govern our mineral world and how its benefits are shared,” he said.
He acknowledged that meaningful reform requires consultation, adjustment and at times patience, and appealed to stakeholders for understanding and constructive engagement as the process moves forward.
“In return you should expect clear rules, fair administration, open dialogue, and respect for lawful agreements. And that is what Ghana stands for,” he added.
