Major Drug Bust: NACOC Seizes Over 2.3 Tonnes of Cannabis in Volta Region Raid

Accra, June 2, 2026 – The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks in Ghana, seizing more than 2.3 tonnes of suspected cannabis during an intelligence-led operation at Gbi-Wegbe, near Hohoe in the Volta Region .
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, 2026, led to the confiscation of 2,372.38 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of GH¢1,186,190 . The drugs were discovered at a farmhouse and warehouse facility believed to have been used as a storage point for illegal narcotics .
According to a statement released by NACOC, the raid followed weeks of intelligence gathering that pointed investigators to the premises . The Commission described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on the production, trafficking, and distribution of illegal narcotics across the country .
