This is Emmanuel Asamoah, who allegedly died in prison less than a week after being sentenced to four years for causing harm.
According to sources, the deceased, a resident of Sankore in Asunafo South, Ahafo Region, went into hiding after harming a victim.
He is said to have been arrested by Goaso Police in a “Rambo-style” operation after he came out of hiding and visited Sankore.
Emmanuel reportedly complained of ill health but was ignored by police, who proceeded to put him before court even as his family pushed for bail.
He was allegedly not legally represented during a two-day trial and was swiftly convicted to serve his sentence at Sunyani Central Prison.
According to reports, the family visited him in prison only to be told, to their surprise, that Emmanuel had died the following day.
A family source said a preliminary report revealed internal bleeding and trauma.
They are appealing for investigations to establish the cause of death of their relative, who left behind two children.
