MP for Okere Backs Ghana–Luxembourg Air Deal to Boost Cocoa, Gold, and Shea Exports

Hon. Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, Member of Parliament for Okere, has supported a motion for the House to adopt the Report of the Committee on Roads and Transportation on the Bilateral Air Service Agreement between Ghana and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Contributing to the debate, the Okere MP said the agreement would open direct opportunities for Ghana’s cargo exports.

“And therefore having this agreement between Ghana and Luxembourg would give Ghana the direct opportunity in terms of its cargo transport for gold, for cocoa, for shea butter and even fresh produce,” he told the House.

Hon. Addo-Kenneth noted that the motion fulfills all regulatory requirements and is supported by detailed reports and briefings from the Ministry of Transport.

“Mr. Speaker, I second this motion and urge that this House would adopt the report. Thank you,” he concluded.

The BASA is between the Government of the Republic of Ghana, represented by the Ministry of Transport, and the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, relating to the establishment of air services between the two countries.

If adopted, the agreement is expected to provide the legal framework for designated airlines from Ghana and Luxembourg to operate commercial air services, which could boost trade, investment, and air connectivity.
