The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed the disqualification of Dzifa Gunu, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Digital Centres, from contesting to retain his position as Constituency Secretary for La Dadekotopon.
The party's Director of Elections and IT, Mahdi Gibril, explained that Mr. Gunu failed to comply with the party's election guidelines which require government appointees to resign at least six months before filing their nomination to contest internal executive positions.
According to Mr. Gibril, who was speaking in an interview, Mr. Gunu did not meet the resignation requirement and was therefore ineligible to contest.
He reiterated that the NDC has maintained a strict position that government appointees who do not resign within the stipulated timeframe cannot contest its internal executive elections.
The disqualification comes as the party prepares for its constituency executive elections across the country.
