NDC Deputy National Director of Elections and IT, Tanko Rashid Computer, has commended aspirants and delegates in the Bimbilla constituency for ensuring a peaceful constituency election.
Speaking to journalists after the elections, Mr. Tanko congratulated both the newly elected executives and the outgoing executives for their role in organizing what he described as a very peaceful and incident-free process.
"It's been a great day. I must say I wish to congratulate the good people of Bimbilla constituency, especially the newly elected executive and then the former executive. They did very well by organizing this peaceful election," he said.
He noted that he had to make time to be present after arriving from abroad because he anticipated a fruitful outcome.
"When I arrived from abroad this morning I indicated I have to try and come down because I knew they were going to have a very fruitful election and they did it so wonderful. Very peaceful, no incident," he added.
Mr. Tanko said the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by contestants was commendable, with winners celebrating and losers graciously accepting defeat.
"The victors were congratulated, those who lost accepted the defeat graciously. That's the nature. We've already spoken about it before today, so we knew that today either you win or you lose. The winners are so happy, the losers too have taken it in good faith," he said.
He urged party members to unite behind the new leadership, describing the election as the starting point for the party's bid to annex the Bimbilla seat.
"This is the starting point of annexing the seat in 2028. You can see the formidable executive being elected, a blend of youth and adults, very focused," he stated.
"I can assure you that NPP should prepare for us. We are coming in full force. 2028, Bimbilla will be one of the victory constituencies that the NDC is going to be counting," Mr. Tanko declared.
