The New Juaben Paramount Chief has issued a strong directive to all tricycle (Pragya) operators in Koforidua and its surrounding communities, warning them against using the Yiadom-Hwedie Palace stretch. Riders who fail to comply risk having their tricycles impounded.
The directive is expected to improve order and safety around the palace area. However, the growing concerns over tricycle operations within the Central Business District have also reignited discussions on the need for stricter regulation.
Many residents and motorists have raised concerns about traffic congestion, indiscriminate parking, and unsafe riding practices in parts of the municipality, particularly along the High Street and other busy commercial areas.
As Koforidua continues to grow, the conversation on how best to regulate tricycle transport while maintaining mobility and public safety remains an important one.
