The Inspector-General of Police’s special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) has arrested seven suspects and recovered three stolen Hyundai vehicles in the Eastern Region.
Police say the operation began after CVET received a report on May 25, 2026, about the theft of an unregistered blue Hyundai Elantra from its owner in Nkawkaw.
Following digital and intelligence-led investigations, the team traced the vehicle to a hideout at Roman Down, Asamankese. Working with the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Detachment in the area, officers arrested the suspects and retrieved two additional stolen vehicles found in their possession.
The vehicles recovered were unregistered Hyundai Elantra and Sonata models.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Acheampong Otuo Kofi, alias Levels, 28; Kpachen Ebenezer, 26; Fianko Isaac, alias Yaw, 35; Besah Elizabeth, 24; David Kudalor, 28; Enoch Acheampong, 38; and Solomon Odei, 35.
All seven are in police custody assisting with investigations, while the three impounded vehicles remain with police.
The Ghana Police Service says efforts are ongoing to recover more stolen vehicles linked to the group. It is also urging the public to report any suspected carjacking syndicates in their communities.
