The Member of Parliament for Kumawu and Chairperson of Parliament's Human Rights Committee, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, says ensuring prudent management of public resources and strengthening accountability remains paramount as Parliament continues its oversight duties.
Hon. Anim made the remarks after participating in the ongoing Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing on the 2025 Auditor-General's Reports.
The Committee engaged the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and its agencies, including the Tree Crops Development Authority, the Cocoa Processing Company, and the Irrigation Company of Upper West Region (ICOUR), to respond to audit infractions captured in the report.
According to him, the exercise forms part of Parliament's mandate to scrutinise public expenditure and safeguard the public interest.
"Ensuring prudent management of public resources, strengthening accountability, and ensuring compliance remain paramount, as we continue to scrutinise public expenditure and safeguard the public interest," Hon. Anim stated.
The PAC hearings form part of Parliament's efforts to ensure compliance with financial management regulations and promote transparency in the use of public funds by Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
