Suhum MP Participates in Global Disability Rights Conference in New York

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the representative of the Suhum Constituency in the 9th Parliament of Ghana, Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, joined Ghana's Parliamentary Caucus at the 19th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in New York.
Hon. Frank Bekoe Asiedu is participating in the international conference in his capacity as a member of Parliament's Human Rights Committee. The conference, which is being held from June 9 to June 11, 2026, is under the theme: "The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at 20: Celebrating and Consolidating Achievements and Shaping the Next Phase of Implementation in a Changing World."
The high-level gathering brings together government representatives, parliamentarians, disability rights advocates, development partners, and stakeholders from across the world to assess progress made over the past two decades and chart a path for the future advancement of the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
Deliberations at the conference will focus on three key thematic areas:
1. Creating a world free from exploitation, violence, and abuse for all persons with disabilities.
2. Resilient societies : strengthening care and support systems to ensure the empowerment, autonomy, and independence of all persons with disabilities.
3. From participation to representation : enhancing accessible civic engagement, leadership, and advocacy in political and public life.
Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe is expected to actively participate in the discussions, share valuable insights, and contribute meaningfully to policy conversations aimed at improving the lives of persons with disabilities globally.
His participation presents an opportunity to draw international attention to Ghana's efforts in promoting disability inclusion while also highlighting the progress, challenges, and aspirations of persons with disabilities in the Suhum Constituency.
