Twifo Hemang MP Agyinsam Quizzes Agric Ministry on Poultry Value Chain Blueprint

Member of Parliament for Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira, Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam, has demanded details of government’s plan to revamp Ghana’s poultry industry.
Raising the issue on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, Agyinsam pressed the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to outline its full strategy covering production, processing, and market access.
“I rise to ask the Minister for Agriculture/Food and Agriculture the plans that the Ministry has to enhance poultry value chain from production to processing and value addition, marketing and distribution and consumption and demand.”
The question was directed at Deputy Food and Agriculture Minister and Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, Hon. John Setor Dumelo, who was in the House to respond to parliamentary questions.

Deputy Food and Agriculture Minister Hon. John Setor Dumelo has laid out government’s “comprehensive end-to-end strategy” to revitalize Ghana’s poultry industry in response to a question from Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira MP, Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam.
Responding on the floor of Parliament Wednesday, Dumelo said the Ministry’s approach targets increased production, efficiency, value addition, market access, and domestic consumption.
“To enhance the poultry value chain from production to processing and value addition, marketing and distribution and consumption and demand is anchored on a comprehensive end-to-end strategy designed to revitalize and expand Ghana’s poultry industry.”
“This involve targeted interventions to increase production, improve efficiency, enhance value addition, strengthen market access and stimulate domestic consumption.”
The Minister outlined Major Interventions
“Under this anchor farmers and outgrower supports, fifty commercial anchor farmers will be selected nationwide and each will be supported with eighty thousand beds with additional logistical and technical assistance,” Dumelo told the House.
