Weija-Gbawe MP Cuts Trip Short to Lead Flood Relief After Heavy Rains Displace Families

Heavy rains on Monday have left *many families across Weija-Gbawe Constituency displaced and devastated*, according to *Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Member of Parliament for the area*.

In a statement, Hon. Shaib said he cut short a trip abroad after learning of the hardship to join evacuation efforts and coordinate relief support for affected constituents.

“Whilst away at the time, I could not remain absent as our people endured such hardship. I have therefore cut short my trip to join in the evacuation efforts,” he stated.

*Relief and Shelter Support*

Before his return, Hon. Shaib said his team was deployed to the affected communities to assess the damage, engage residents, and deliver immediate aid. *Mattresses and food supplies* were distributed to households hit by the floods.

The MP’s office also worked with *nearby churches*, whose leadership opened their facilities to host displaced residents. Additional mattresses were provided to the shelters to ensure *children and the elderly* had a safe and dignified place to rest overnight.

Hon. Shaib expressed gratitude to churches, volunteers, community leaders, and residents who supported the response. “Your compassion and selflessness remind us that even in moments of hardship, our community remains strong and united,” he said.

He added: “To every affected family, my heart is with you. Please know that you are not alone in this difficult time. We will continue to stand with you, support relief efforts, and work together to help our communities recover and rebuild.”
