The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has assured President John Dramani Mahama of his commitment to deliver on the government's promises to Ghanaians.
Mr Ayariga gave the assurance on Saturday, August 29, 2026, during the swearing-in ceremony for himself and the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, at the Jubilee House.
The ceremony officially marked the start of their tenure after Parliament unanimously approved their nominations following vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27.
Speaking after taking the constitutional oaths, Mr Ayariga said both ministers had taken careful note of the President's expectations and the responsibility entrusted to them.
"I want to assure you that we have listened carefully to your indication as to exactly what you expect of us as ministers of state and how you expect us to execute the assignment. I want to assure you that we will do exactly that," he said.
He pledged to work to fulfil the commitments made to Ghanaians during the 2024 campaign to reset the country.
"We will work to realise the commitments that you made to Ghanaians in your promise to reset the country when you campaigned in 2024," he stated.
Mr Ayariga added that President Mahama's style of governance and his way of relating to ordinary Ghanaians would guide their conduct in office, and assured that they would continue to seek guidance from the President and his Vice President in the execution of their duties.
"Your style of governance and your style of relating to the ordinary Ghanaian are going to be our guiding post as to how we conduct ourselves, and I want to assure you that as your ministers, we will continue to take guidance from you and your vice president regarding how we conduct our business," he said.
