Member of Parliament for Effia, Hon. Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, has demanded answers from government over the whereabouts of convicted former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu.
Speaking to the media in Parliament, Boamah-Nyarko said the Minority wants clarity on whether she is in Ghana and serving the full term handed down by the court.
“We are asking government to tell Ghanaians exactly where Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is,” he said. “She was convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction. The people of Ghana deserve to know if she is in the country and in prison as the law requires.”
The Effia MP argued that general statements that she is “in prison’s custody” leave too many questions unanswered.
“Being in prison’s custody could mean several things. You can be under the care of prisons and still be at home. You can be in a hospital and still be under prison service. That is why we need specifics,” he told reporters.
Boamah-Nyarko said the Minority is not accusing government of wrongdoing but wants transparency to avoid speculation.
“If government provides the exact details, then Ghanaians would have the opportunity to understand that she’s in to serve the full term of her conviction. That is all we are asking,” he said.
He added that if the Interior Minister fails to voluntarily disclose her location and the facility where she is being held, the Minority will file a formal question on the floor of Parliament to compel the minister to appear and respond.
“This is about accountability. The judicial process has ended. What is left is enforcement of the sentence. The public has a right to know,” Boamah-Nyarko stressed.
Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), was convicted by an Accra High Court in a case involving financial loss to the state. Details of her sentencing and current custody status have since drawn public scrutiny.
