The Minority in Parliament has alleged that several individuals who travelled to the United States under the purported institutional arrangement involving the National Sports Authority (NSA) have not returned to Ghana.
Addressing the press at Parliament House, the Ranking Member on the Youth and Sports Committee, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, said information available to them points to a number of persons still outside the country.
"According to the information available to us, several individuals who travelled to the United States under the purported institutional arrangement have to date not returned to Ghana," he stated.
The Minority named some of the persons allegedly yet to return.
"One, the assistant to Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is still not back in the country. Mr. Sevin Otre, the driver of the Minister for Sports and Recreation is still not back to the country. The secretary of the then Chief Director is still not back to the country," Hon. Assafuah alleged.
He stressed that the claims should be independently verified through official records.
"These matters should be independently verified through immigration records and the relevant travel documents," he said.
Hon. Assafuah said the development challenges attempts to reduce the scandal to the conduct of the NSA Director General alone.
"This is important because it challenges any attempt to reduce the entire matter to the conduct of Yaw Ampofo Ankrah alone," he noted.
According to him, the documentary trail available to the Minority shows broader institutional involvement.
"The documentary trail before us involves the NSA, the Ministry of Sports, the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Tribe Culture Fest and individuals connected to different levels of these institutions," he added.
