Fourteen residents of Mallam Kokroko in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency are receiving treatment after a fatal accident on their return from Begoro, Eastern Region, where they had gone to mourn the death of a relative’s father.
Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe and Second Deputy Minority Whip, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, confirmed the incident yesterday. “Yesterday, I received information that about fourteen residents of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, specifically from Mallam Kokroko, had travelled to Begoro in the Eastern Region to mourn with one of their own following the loss of his father,” he said. “Sadly, on their journey back, they were involved in a fatal accident, leaving several people in critical condition.”
Upon hearing the news yesterday evening, Hon. Shaib arranged to visit the victims this morning. Together with Super and Assignment, he visited some of the injured at Koforidua Regional Hospital and St. Joseph Catholic Hospital.
“Some of them are expected to undergo surgery in the coming days,” the MP noted. During the visit, he spent time with the patients, offered prayers for their healing and recovery, and made a cash donation to support their medical expenses and immediate needs.
Hon. Shaib extended his sympathies to the victims and their families. “My thoughts and prayers remain with all the victims and their families during this difficult period,” he said.
“As Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, I want to assure them that they are not alone. As a constituency, we stand with them and will continue to offer support in every way possible.”
The MP wished all those receiving treatment a full and speedy recovery. “I look forward to seeing them regain their strength and return safely to their families,” he added.
