Abandoned Since 2012: Bole-Bamboi MP Rescues Staff Quarters Project at Bole District Hospital

The Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Dr. Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, has secured funding and commenced work on a staff accommodation project at the Bole District Hospital that has been abandoned for 14 years.

The over 20-unit housing project was initiated in 2012 by the hospital using its Internally Generated Funds, IGF. Construction stalled midway due to financial constraints, leaving health workers in the district without adequate accommodation.

During a meeting with hospital management in May this year, the MP was appealed to for support to complete the facility. Management cited a critical deficit in staff housing as one of the challenges affecting staff retention at the hospital.

Dr. Sulemana, who has emphasized the need to improve healthcare delivery in the constituency, responded to the request and has since made funds available. A contractor has also been mobilized and is currently on site to complete the project.

The intervention is expected to help retain critical health workers and improve service delivery at the Bole District Hospital.
