The Minority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has been commended for his leadership as Chairman of the Pan-African Parliament’s Committee on Health, Labour and Social Affairs.
In a statement, the Minority Caucus in Parliament said Hon. Annoh-Dompreh successfully presented a comprehensive report and spearheaded the adoption of key resolutions at the *First Ordinary Session of the Seventh Pan-African Parliament* held in Midrand, South Africa.
The resolutions focus on *strengthening maternal and neonatal healthcare, advancing Africa’s Health Security and Sovereignty Agenda, and promoting the safe, evidence-based integration of traditional medicine* into national healthcare systems.
*CUE IN: MINORITY CAUCUS*
"The resolutions followed a Parliamentary Oversight Mission to Zambia conducted in partnership with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), which examined practical strategies for reducing maternal and newborn deaths, improving healthcare delivery and strengthening resilient health systems across the continent."
*CUE OUT*
A major outcome of the session was the decision to develop a *Pan-African Model Law on Traditional Medicine and the Protection of Local Knowledge*. The proposed law is expected to provide harmonised legal and regulatory frameworks for research, regulation, quality assurance, and the protection of Africa’s indigenous medical knowledge.
The Pan-African Parliament also urged African Union Member States to *increase investment in healthcare, strengthen public health institutions, expand local pharmaceutical manufacturing, and enhance preparedness for future public health emergencies*.
The Minority Caucus described Hon. Annoh-Dompreh’s chairmanship and the adopted resolutions as “exemplary leadership” that will help shape health policy and delivery across the continent.
