The Bank of Ghana has dismissed reports that it is planning to sell its new $260 million headquarters, describing the claim as “false and misleading.”
In a press release issued today, the Bank responded to a MyJoyOnline publication dated June 1, 2026, which suggested it was considering a sale of the facility.
The Bank categorically stated it is not considering, discussing, or planning any sale of the building. It said the headquarters, which was commissioned to support operations and improve efficiency, remains a critical asset.
The Bank urged the public and media to disregard the report, warning that unverified stories of this nature could undermine confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create market uncertainty.
It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and said all official communication comes through its website http://bog.gov.gh, verified social media pages, press statements from the Communications Department, and signed statements from the Secretary of the Bank.
The Bank encouraged media houses to seek clarification directly before publishing information about its operations.
The statement was issued by the Communications Department on June 2, 2026.
