The Chapter Chairman of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists at Korle-Bu, John Kofi Nakoja, says laboratory services are central to delivering quality healthcare in Ghana and must be given the recognition they deserve.
Speaking at the 2026 Greater Accra Regional Congress of GAMLS, Mr. Nakoja stated that for years Ghanaians have looked down on the role of laboratories in the health sector.
According to him, that perception must change because the laboratory is "the bedrock of modern medicine in the 21st century."
He argued that the narrative around laboratory work needs to be reset, stressing that laboratory scientists are trained and qualified professionals.
Mr. Nakoja called on government to change the discussion around laboratory services, adding that his outfit is well positioned to support medical doctors to administer quality healthcare to Ghanaians.
