The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, *Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea*, has urged medical laboratory managers to raise leadership standards and ensure greater accountability in service delivery.
Speaking at the *5th Annual General Meeting of the Society of Medical Laboratory Managers, Ghana* on Monday, Dr. Akoriyea said reliable diagnostics are the foundation of quality healthcare and key to achieving Universal Health Coverage.
He emphasized that without accurate and timely laboratory results, clinical decisions, disease surveillance, and patient care will suffer.
“Reliable diagnostics are fundamental to quality healthcare and Universal Health Coverage. We must uphold professional integrity while driving continuous quality improvement across the country.”
Dr. Akoriyea called on laboratory managers to lead efforts to improve quality standards, strengthen systems, and maintain public trust in laboratory services nationwide.
He noted that stronger leadership at the facility level is needed to ensure laboratories meet national and international benchmarks and deliver services that support better health outcomes.
Members of the Society pledged to work with the Ghana Health Service to enhance training, quality assurance, and resource management in medical laboratories.
