Man Arrested Following Shooting Incident in Deti, Two Injured

Police in the Volta Region have initiated an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred in Deti, a suburb of Akatsi, on May 27, 2026. The clash, which began as a dispute, escalated into violence, resulting in two individuals sustaining injuries and significant property damage. The victims, identified as James Kpanda, 44, and Jonathan Kpanda, 30, suffered gunshot wounds to the knee and eye respectively. The incident also caused damage to a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, two motorbikes, and a fence wall. Reports indicate that the altercation began when a group of young men, including the victims, attempted to demolish the fence wall of the suspect, Mensah Awagah. In response to the provocation, Awagah retrieved a firearm from his residence and fired at the group, leading to the injuries. The victims are currently receiving medical treatment, while the police continue their investigations into charges of attempted murder and unlawful damage. The community remains on edge following the incident, which has raised concerns about safety and violence in the area.
