The Member of Parliament for Takoradi Constituency, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, joined hundreds of residents on Saturday, July 11, 2026, for a mass clean-up exercise across the constituency.
The exercise kicked off at 6:00 AM with the MP working side-by-side with youth, women and community members to clear gutters, desilt drains and remove refuse.
Areas covered included Amanful, New Takoradi, Adakope, Beach Road, Old Adra, Essikafo Abanten, Railway, Cassava Farm, Airport and Kokompe.
Speaking after the exercise, Hon. Darko-Mensah stressed the link between sanitation and public health.
“A clean Takoradi is a healthy Takoradi. Leadership is about service, and I am committed to leading by example. I thank everyone, especially the women and youth, for turning out in their numbers,” he said.
The Takoradi MP also used the opportunity to urge residents to make cleanliness part of their daily routine and to back government efforts to keep the city tidy.
He noted that he had earlier made the same call in Parliament, adding that “Takoradi must be clean at all times.”
He concluded by appreciating constituents for their commitment and hard work during the exercise.
“Thank you, Takoradi people, for the hard work you exhibited on Saturday,” the MP said.
