The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants to immediately cease all forms of campaign activities across the country.
In a press statement dated October 11, 2026, and signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said it has received numerous complaints that some members with parliamentary ambitions have begun campaigning in various constituencies.
According to the party, such conduct is contrary to the Party's regulations and Code of Conduct, creates an uneven playing field, and undermines the unity and discipline on which the Party's success depends.
The Party accordingly directs, with immediate effect, that all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters cease all forms of campaign activities. This includes, but is not limited to:
1. Mounting posters, billboards, banners and other branded materials
2. Organising rallies, polling station executives meetings or tours for the purpose of soliciting support
3. Distributing items or other inducements to delegates and Party members
4. Paid media and social media advertising promoting a candidature
The statement further warned that party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, region and national levels, including TESCON, are forbidden entirely from posting any parliamentary aspirant on any social media platform (Facebook, X, Instagram etc.) or enabling such pre-mature parliamentary aspirants' activities.
The NPP cautioned that any person who fails to comply will be dealt with in accordance with the Party's disciplinary procedures, which may affect their eligibility to contest.
The party added that it will announce the timetable and guidelines for the party's parliamentary processes in due course, and that constituency and regional executives are to ensure strict compliance within their jurisdictions.
