A senior member of the New Patriotic Party’s student wing has petitioned the party’s National Executive Committee to sanction Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, accusing the outspoken MP of repeated misconduct that threatens NPP unity ahead of the 2028 elections.
The petition, dated June 18, 2026, was filed by Charles Opoku, Deputy National TESCON Coordinator from New Juaben South Constituency. It was addressed to the NPP General Secretary at Asylum Down, Accra.
*“Pattern of Misconduct” Cited*
Opoku, who says he has served the NPP for over 14 years, described Agyapong’s actions as a “pattern of misconduct and deliberate violation of the NPP Constitution” that has become “increasingly detrimental to party unity, discipline and our collective efforts towards victory in the 2028 general elections.”
He alleged that Hon. Agyapong has “repeatedly made unfortunate public statements against fellow party members, rundown party institutions and opposed official party positions,” bringing the party’s image into disrepute.
*Afari Military Hospital, “Outright Lies”*
Of particular concern, the petition stated, was Agyapong’s recent public criticism of the Minority Caucus’ position on the Afari Military Hospital impasse.
“It’s unacceptable for a leading member of the party like Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to publicly use outright lies and false fabrications to rundown initiative by the party to get the government to complete and operationalize the Afari Military Hospital,” Opoku wrote.
He argued the conduct violates Article 3 of the NPP Constitution, which enjoins members to “be truthful and loyal to the party” and “protect and promote the good name of the party.”
*“The Base” and 2027 Attack Threat*
The petition also flagged the activities of “The Base,” a group that emerged after the NPP’s presidential primary. Opoku said its structures “appear to operate outside the recognized organs of the Party,” creating anxiety and risking “unnecessary divisions.”
He further cited a recent media interview in which Agyapong “reportedly threatened to disclose confidential information and documents relating to the affairs of the Party.”
